Why must a butterfly leave its cocoon?
To spread its rainbow wings and fly
Why must a bird leave its nest?
To soar high into the sky
Why must a kitten leave its mother?
To explore what is beyond
All these leavings but yet beginnings,
To a life that calls them on.
Why must a loved one leave this Earth?
Children, partner, friend,
Left to question why such a beautiful life came to an end?
But with this end comes a new beginning,
Paradise beyond the eye,
Peacefulness and calm,
For their spirit has not died.
Instead, it lives on,
In a place that holds no barriers
No bars,
No pain,
By a gentle voice that whispered in the ear
“Come my child, live again!”
So whilst we must mourn,
For a person, we cannot,
See or touch
Open up your heart,
Listen closely,
For they are there,
Speaking softly,
“Do not worry for me, the Lord has called me
Now I am free”
